Tuesday, May 26, the Metro Nashville Board of Public Education approved plans for two new adult high schools. The schools will target students ages 17-21, who have dropped out of high school or are at risk of dropping out. The schools offer a high school diploma and flexible hours to accommodate student schedules. Students can attend classes in the morning, afternoon or evening. Students can earn two course credits every nine weeks. The school will have two sites – the old Cockrill Building and the career training center at Opry Mills Mall. Students will be responsible for their own transportation, will have to earn the same number of credits and pass the same exams as traditional students to graduate.
